Leslie Van Stavern Millar has created visual art in western Montana for over 4 decades.  As a child Leslie lived in the Middle East and was inspired by first hand exposure to Persian Miniature Painting.  She subsequently taught herself gouache painting in order to create a contemporary version of this narrative style.  Recently Leslie received grants from the PROP Foundation and the Montana Arts Council to create an art book.  The First Queen Elizabeth Time Travels To Montana complements her narrative painting seriesMontana Peepshow Stories, on display at the Missoula Art Museum from September 21, 2016 through January 21, 2017.  Leslie, a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships and shows her work consistently at art centers and galleries.
