Nick Neely
Nick Neely’s first book of essays, Coast Range: A Collection from the Pacific Edge (Counterpoint), was a finalist for the 2017 John Burroughs Medal for natural history writing and CLMP’s Firecracker Award for Creative Nonfiction. He is the recipient of a PEN Northwest Boyden Wilderness Writing Residency, a UC Berkeley-11th Hour Food and Farming Journalism Fellowship, and the 2015 John Burroughs Nature Essay Award. His work is published in magazines such as Orion, High Country News, Audubon, Kenyon Review, and The Georgia Review. Neely holds an MA in literature and environment from the University of Nevada, Reno, an MFA in nonfiction from Hunter College, and an MFA in poetry from Columbia University. He lives in Hailey, Idaho, with his wife, the painter Sarah Bird.
